Re: eBay: Allied intrest

POST 3772.
Photos 1--3 are B-17Gs from 384BG, SU= 544BS, BK= 546BS. Black outline to Group triangle was added from Aug. 44; sqn. designator at top, 544th = 1, 546th =3. The B-17 with plain black triangle is the Group Pathfinder, there were others in the 1st. Div. with similar marking eg. 401, 351, 457BGs.
4. LB-30 Liberator II "Blonde Blitz", RAF serial AL628 taken on by AAF, sent to 397BS / 6BG (Sixth AF) in Panama for canal defence; returned to US and converted to C-87 transport. 6th. BG was disbanded Nov.1 1943 and re-formed as a Pacific B-29 Group in XXAF. 397BS assigned to Sixth BC. She has anti-sub. camouflage, OD over white with large serial on tail.
5. Possibly Eighth AF, "Peggy Jo" 42-94744 was a B-24H (448BG) with Emerson turret. Not "Peggy Lou" she was Fifth AF 90BG.
6. B-24D-1 with added nose turret- 42-72815 "Sky Witch", 400BS "Black Pirates"/ 90BG, salvaged on Morotai Nov.11 44 after damage; later camo. removed, black fin, r-w-b rudder stripes, 815 at top.

Note. Photo 5...... 42-94744 was a B-24H-15-FO and camouflaged so not her.

7-8. B-25s possibly 38BG (captions say 71RG) the 38th. had a B-25 with same name "We'rewolf" (with apostrophy) and very similar wolf; can't be certain.
Regards
Nick
