It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of T/Sgt George Roberts
George flew with the 306thBG 367thSQ as a Radio Operator/Gunner.
His A-2 Flying jacket while assigned to the B-17 "Rose of York" named in honor of Princess Elizabeth is currently on display in the "Savannah to the U.K." exhibit. George flew on October 14, 1943-Black Thursday-Second Schweinfurt. Named for then Princess Elizabeth Windsor (later Queen Elizabeth II), B-17G 42-102547 "Rose of York" was christened by the Princess on her royal visit to the airfield on July 6, 1944. When visiting the museum honor George's memory when you view his jacket on display.
The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is honored to have called him a dear friend. We will miss him. Blue Skies, Good Sir
