Re: Staffelkapitän V./LG 1

Hi Guys

Checking the book written by Shores/Foreman/Ehrengardt/Weiss/Olsen (Fledgling Eagles - 1991) they are
quite certain this combat took place on April 2nd (not 3rd), most likely due to French data, including claims
and losses.

The same data, but much more elaborate, can be found in the earlier French book Les Aiglons (1983) where most
of the above authors had come together

In both books only Methfessel is mentioned when he claimed Adjutant Le Martelot.

Since I doubt any of the authors have simply invented the date names etc, they must have relied upon some
relevant information.

Thus checking all other books I have in French and also Cornwell's Battle over France, they all agree
that this action took place on April 2nd

The name of Methfessel is repeated every time.

Since April 3rd was quite a quiet day I can only conclude that the relevant actions and claims
really took place on the 2nd and not the 3rd

It would be interesting to know from where the name Werner Methfessel was taken since the claim read by
Johannes seems to be by someone else!

B Rgds
