Re: Loss of 2Lt. Alfred Q. CARROLL on July 25th, 1944 - 301. Sqd. 332. FG, 15. USAAF
Gentlemen, that is some great work! Thank you very much for your help!
I was not aware that ME-Reports are available now.
ME 1697 - "ME" maybe for the german word "MEldung", is definitely linked to 2Lt. Alfred Q. CARROLL.
ME 1698 to his comrade 2Lt. Starling B. PENN, who also crashed in Austria and also survived as POW. I think we can put both pilots to the 301st Squadron (as seen on the morning report of July 27th, 1944.
I did not find any MACR for both pilots and I wonder why. Gentlemen, do you see any possibility to link the aircraft's serials to those pilots - and which one to whom? I am not 100% sure if 42-106850 - North American built P-51B-15-NA and according Joe Baugher's page linked to 354th FS, 355th FG could be connected to those cases.
43-25102 was a North American P-51C-10-NT built Mustang. I did not find it on Joe Baugher's page.
Regards, K.
