Photo 4. A famous B-24H (Ford) 42-52106 "Sunshine" (449BG).
Damaged on Mission 39 to Bolzano rail yards 29 March 44, didn't quite make Switzerland and landed intact at Venegono. Captured by Germans and used for propaganda including filming her.
The photo believed taken at Bergamo near Milan when with 2./KG200 ( the Southern Detachment was code-named "Carmen"), clearly marked German insignia and yellow band.
Originally marked "5 - barred A", then full 47Wing designators; black triangle in white disc (Wing), black "3" in white disc (3rd. Group in Wing) and "5" on rudder-still visible.
