HELP SEARCHING AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL SITE http://www.awm.gov.au
The following are suggestions that may assist when searching the Australian War Memorial “Roll of Honour” site.
http://www.awm.gov.au This site list death of Australian Service personnel lost during different conflicts. It includes death in combat, accidental deaths, illness etc. The following examples show

1 Open http://www.awm.gov.au
2 Select “Roll of Honour” on right of page
3 Select “Advanced Search”
4 In “Unit” enter “Sqn” or “? Sqn” example 460 Sqn
5 In “Conflict” select Second World War, 1939-1945 from drop down menu
6 To check Australian Aircrew losses when serving with other Air Forces in “Unit” type for example USAAF
Example in “Unit” type 460 sqn, leave date blank, In “Conflict” select Second World War, 1939-1945 from drop down menu.
This returns 589 Australian losses for 460 sqn during WW2
Example in “Unit” type USAAF, leave date blank, In “Conflict” select Second World War, 1939-1945 from drop down menu.
This returns the loss 33 Australian attached to USAAF during WW2
Example In “Unit” type sqn, in date select 6 June 1944. Because you are using a particular date “Conflict” can be left as is.
This returns 11 entries
Where the word sqn is used by its self, entries other than Air Force Personnel maybe included.
Example Commando Units
RAAF Service Numbers are usually just a Number and not preceded by letter/s
Kind regards
Ross
