Hello CJE,
You probably mean Uffz. Gerhard "Emmes" Schwarz (not Schmidt) of 2./JG 51. His score is usually given as 20, but not all of his claims have been unearthed so far. He was shot down and taken POW on 21 June 1943 and spent six and half years in captivity before returning to Germany.
