F/O Randrup, 234 Sqn, Sept. 1942

On 6 October 1942, a F/O Randrup is posted to No. 234 (Madras Presidency) Squadron according to the ORB. The ORB has no indication of any squadron posting prior to this date, which to my knowledge seems to be practice in 234 Sqn. at this point in time. This might suggest - but then only suggest - a non-operational posting.

I have been trying to establish the whereabouts of later test pilot F/L Michael Randrup (84291)

He is promoted to F/L on 4 September 1942, but as the Gazette date is 11 December 1942, I guess that he would rank as F/O in October.

At this moment, I have only access to ORB Form 540 April-December 1942. Therefore, I do not know if a first name might appear in the Form 541, or if the quoted rank of Randrup changes in the Form 541 in December. This would be fact suggesting, that this is the guy.

I might add, that I have only come across two Randrups in RAF, Ivan Christian and Michael, both Danish and possibly brothers. Ivan Christian is killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound on 29 January 1941.

Would anyone be able to add more information?

TIA,
