Mystery German Mosquito
To some of the folks here with long memories, there was the story of the Mosquito found in Holland in 1963 during the reclamation of the Zuiderzee.
The Dutch authorities determined it had German amunition and was painted in a strange camouflage.
One description of this Mosquito was done by Gerrie Zwanenburg:
"Another interesting find was Mosquito parts. Unfortunately, the main parts of this Mosquito had been removed before the Air Force investigated wrecks in the polder. Reports of the earlier salvage recorded the finding of German amunition . Due to this it was thought that the Mosquito had been flown by Germans, but it is still an open question. I sent parts of a parachute found to the Irving Parachute Company in England and they definitively identified the parachute as being British. It is known that in this part of the Ijsselmeer during the war , at least three Mosquitoes could have come down."
Any thoughts?
