Gunther ; I take your point but if 4D+ON was heading back over France in a generally southward direction it could have made Spain. I believe the relatives of Heinz Maiwald only knew he was missing and he is not showing as having a grave. With the same date the possible same werk nummer and only one body in the Spanish crash it is worth checking out. As regards the distance covered in 1940 a Ju 88 abandoned near Reims ( The Blitz Then and Now vol 2 ) crashed just south of London, and in 1941 a Ju 88C returning from England was abandoned near Charleville, France and flew on to crash in North Italy ( see Intruders Over Britain by Simon Parry ),
