Thanks for the replies.
It still seems strange to me, the phrase 'copyright on time' this would seem to imply if I took the time and trouble to scan a book and put it on Cd/DVD that I would have copyright on it.
Would this then also apply for photographs, If someone scanned a photo onto cd/dvd could they then claim to have copyright..
Surely this would upset many of todays authors.
