Re: Two Mosquito INTRUDER claims
Bannock and Bruce made the only claim that night (Sept 12/13, 1944) for a Mosquito from 418 in the vicinity of Kitzingen. The combat reports states the aircraft as unidentified. During the attack, they did see numerous hits on the rear fuselage and the starboard engine explode. They passed over the target and observed a large flash on the ground, having lost sight of the aircraft in the turn. They couldn't see any fire on the ground.
Of the 11 Mosquitos dispatched that night, Bannock is the only one to have fired at any enemy aircraft.
