That family will never exactly know how Oberlt Hans-Heinrich Wiegand died, we only have this to go on: an observer in 5./KG4 who died as a result of an accident on a mission to England on 7.9.40 when his aircraft got into a spin and crashed near Clermont.

In trying to guess at the circumstances with the little we have, I am wondering if his He111 P made it to England and achieved his mission, or his plane did not make it to England and suffered a mechanical function to crash far from his objective near Clermont. I believe he was based at Eindhoven.
