Oblt H. Wolff aircraft?
A long shot this, but I wonder if anybody could help solve this question. Oblt Wolff (from 6./KG2) was taken prisoner on 22nd August 1942 and in his POW report he describes taking part in a raid over southern England during the 19th August. During this raid he attacked a '2000ton' ship off Portsmouth at about 18.00 and was then damaged in one engine by Spitfires (probably from 131 Sqn). Despite the damage the aircraft returned with no casualties.
I'm trying to identify the Do217E-4 involved, by a process of elimination of the II/KG2 losses in the QM returns this aircraft may have been 'Wnr 5319' which made a forcelanding near Turnbout with no casualties but 60% damage. I wonder if anybody could help to confirm/disprove this theory and also confirm whether '5319' was written off?
Regards,
Steve
