Re: Looking for details of a Normandy Bf-109 crash
OK,
I was being rather prosaic in my language; a Messerschmitt did crash-land at Les Landelles in 1944. It was 'shortly after D-Day', which is the best authority from the pen of a man who was nearby at the time, so June to early July '44 is the best date. The plane was set alight by the local resistance. The eventual police report stated "One Messerschmitt crash-landed, burst into flames, no trace of pilot". The pilot had asked the way to Bernay . . .
If scans are available of the Frappe entries for June, early July, that would be great.
Many thanks,
Chris
