Hi Larry: I have a Hptm. Ernst Ott as Kdr. III/StGr-2, a JU-87 unit during the Polish campaign. Is it possible this is your man, transitioned to Zerstorer, and attached to Stab I/ZG-1 to gain experience prior to being assigned to ZG-2? Disregard if you already have this info. Also concerning II/ZG-1...They apparently were responsible for the massacre of possibly up to 7 or 8 Dutch DB-8A3N's of 3e Jachtvliegtuigenafdeling on 10.5.40.This may account for some reported claims by pilots such as Hermichen and kutscha.
