Re: Blenheim Z6084 crash in Belgium

Hi Alain57,

Z6084 - 26/06/42 with 13 Squadron at Odiham and took-off from Wattisham at 2356 hours on the 25th on an intruder sortie to St-Trond airfield in support of the Thousand Bomber Raid on Bremen. Probably shot down by Oblt. Eckart-Wilhelm von Bonin in a Do 217 of 6./NJG 1. P/O P.G.Frith, Sgt H.H.W.Vinter and Sgt R.T.Plant were all killed and are buried in the Churchyard at Houwaart, 11 miles north-east of Leuven, Belgium, close to where the a/c crashed. Von Bonin survived the war as a Major (Gruppenkommandeur) of I./NJG 102 with 39 victory claims in about 150 operational sorties. He died 11/01/92.

All the best,

Blenheim
