Re: 6/KG2 Dornier crash 31st July 1942 atr Cheveley in Cambridgeshire
Chris:
Good answer, and I have no wish to rekindle the flames of my 1982 dispute with you, certainly not in a public manner, and not on a WW 2 Luftwaffe forum such as this.
In answer to your question, the picture showing four KG.2 officers including Wolff and Kindler in captivity in Canada was sent to me in October 1999 by Worcestershire researcher Glyn Warren. Glyn had considerable contact with Herbert Gangl, pilot of a Ju 88 shot down in 'his' area in July 1942, and Kindler (so Glyn informed me) was a good friend of Gangl's. I suspect that both men (Kindler and Wolff) had copies of the same picture.
While I am not a "published author", I too, have a large collection of pictures and documents, principally relating to the air war in my beloved East Anglia. Suffice to say that I learned a very hard lesson from your comments regarding my request for a picture of Hans Wolff to accompany my projected magazine article in 1982 - and the years have done nothing to diminish my unease.
