Hi Franck

I remember reading several years ago some article in a military aviation magazine about him in which it mentioned that he did indeed fly various of the late war Bf 109 fighters, including, if my memory can be trusted (very hazardous), the Bf 109 G-10 and the K-4. I do remember that according to this source he flew as well the Fw 190 D-9. He also stated that he preferred the earlier Gustav series, because those were the ones that he was most familiar and claimed most of his victories with. I assume he was referring to the Bf 109 G-2 and G-6. If I am correct, from 11 December 1944 he served as Kommandeur of Verbandsführerschule General der Jagdflieger and from 20 February 1945 as Geschwaderkommodore of JG 300 so possibly most of his late war combat flying was with Stab/JG 300 and thus with the types that unit was equipped with. I get the impression that he did not fly too many missions with these late war types, though. Hopefully some one else can add to this but I hope this helps a little.

Horrido!

Leo
