Re: Croatian Kampfgruppe

Hello,

first I want to say thank you to Tomislav, Boris and Nick for all the interesting information.

The "Einsatzkampfgruppe or Kampfgruppe Ju 88/Gen.d.Fl.Ausb. (Chef AW)" under Luftwaffenkommando Südost was indeed put up by General der Fliegerausbildung (Chef Ausbildungswesen - Chef AW) with German personnel only. They mainly used Ju 88 and some Do 17, VKZ was K5+. The lossed Nick mentioned have been from this unit.
The earliest loss I have is the following: 9 June 1943, Do 17, Werknummer 2173, no combat, probably engine failure, crash 100% near Bradina, pilot Fw. Fritz Barthel and mechanic Uffz. Heinz Rennecke dead.

On 20 March 1943 the Einsatzbereitschaftsmeldungen (EBM; BA-MA RL 2 III-72x) note under "Chef AW": Einsatzstaffel Fliegerführer Kroatien with 12/8 Ju 88 and 9/8 He 46.
On 10 June 1943, "Chef AW": Einsatzstaffel Fliegerführer Luftwaffenstab Kroatien: 37/27 Ju 88 and 11/10 He 46, Stab with four Ju W.34 and one He 111.
Unfortunately, there is no information on the units of "Chef AW" in BA-MA RL 2 III-725, between 20.06. and 10.08.1943.

Boris, I have tried to reach you by e-mail, but the address I have is not valid anymore. It´s been a too long time since we had contact, nice to hear from you again, :-)!
Also to Nick: Meanwhile, you should have received a "snail-post" from me.

May main interest is the Croatian Schlachtstaffel.
Is it possible that some kind of Einsatzstaffel with Ju 87 and Fw 190 were sent to Lubien/Poland in July and August/September 1944? If not, the information in the German books must be totally wrong. Or the authors have mixed something.

Best wishes and merry Xmas,

Christian
