May 12 suspiciously matches up with big airbattle between LW and 8th AF on May 12, 1944 - the 'day' the oil campaign started. This also day Rall shot down by Rankin.

I know the 4th and 56th FG had a big engagement round the Frankfurt (?) area (i am away from my references) and possibly 357 and 352 also
