Re: Junkers 88 A4 Identity
It's an engine plate rather than the aircraft's (the "9-" bit indicates an engine, an "8-" would be an aircraft, as in ""8-88" for a Ju 88 etc.) Egines of course could be removed from one aircraft and fitted to another during their life.
Beuart hgg = should be "Bauart" and denotes the manufacturer whose code was "hgg" (someone here will know who that was but I don't!)
------------
Gerat-Nr 9-6101.40 = Device (or equipment) number
Werk-Nr 3909 = Werk Nummer or factory serial number of the item
Hersteller aus = "manufacturer from..." (so posssibly incomplete)
------------
fur motor Jumo 211 (F-possible, not sure) = for Jumo 211 Motor
ln Ju88 A4 = [fitted] in a Ju 88 A-4
Kuhlstoff Wasser = water-cooled
Nachprufdr 2.5 atu = pressure tested to 2.5 atmospheres
Ventileinst (blank) = an abbreviation I think: Ventil can relate to either engine valves or ventilation
Abnahme stamped BA2240 and OK = acceptance (I guess BA2240 denotes the person/establishment that OK'd the engine for use)
