Wilhem Stör was born at Witten in the Ruhr area on Oct 5th 1893. He served with a Hussar regiment in 1914 and transferred to aviation in 1917. Posted to Jasta 68 on April 7th in 1918 he recieved the Iron Cross after his first victory that same month. He was credited with five victories, although only four has so far been found in German records. He himself always claimed that he had shot down three aircraft and two balloons.
Post war he served with the "forces in the Baltic" (does not say if this apply to German troops or any of the Baltic States) and later became an aerobatic instructor at Schleissheim. A very well known stunt pilot during the thirties and ranked among such pilots as Gerhard Fieseler and Ernst Udet. He also became a test pilot with Messerschmitt.
