John Beaman is an unknown quantity at this point
Not exactly WWII, but close...

...I thought those of you who have heard of the situation might enjoy this:

This follow up is in regard to a fellow in NC who located a Brester built
Corsair and his battle with the Dept of the Navy and his right of claim
title to it since he located and recovered it. It is common knnowledge that
the Navy lays claim to anything that ever belonged to her forever unlike the
other branches of of the military who when written off, can be recoved and
titled to the recovered.

To all,
As of May 5, 2005 Judge Michael J. Davis has signed off on the Order of
Dismissal. With this final document it has finally been determined that we
STILL own the corsair! Before the arduous task of rebuilding begins, I must
thank the people involved with preventing the Navy from taking this
airplane.

The top of my list starts with Congressman Walter B. Jones of NC (in who's
district the corsair crashed in 1944) who took up the cause to prevent
further waste of tax payers' money in a senseless lawsuit. Without his help
the outcome would have taken many thousands more dollars on both sides and
may have resulted in a different outcome. I am forever indebted to this
public servant and his wonderful staff.

Next, I must thank my attorney Boyd H. Ratchye and the law firm of Bassford
Remele of Minneapolis, MN. They did an outstanding job for me and I highly
recommend them to the next individual or museum that requires defense.

Also, Senator Norm Coleman of MN who introduced language from the House to
the Senate on my behalf. This was crucial to passing legislation for the
"Deed of Gift" which was attached to HR4200 (the 2005 Ronald Reagan Defense
bill ).

Behind the scenes, people like former state Senator Bob Lassard worked hard
to lobby against the Naval Historical Center's claim of ownership.

I have been amazed by the publicity and support from the media, AOPA, and
EAA. Further, many individuals and even some corporations have called,
emailed or written to various elected officials and myself in support. I am
humbled by the kindness of strangers. I cannot possibly thank all of you.

Although I legally own the Brewster built Corsair Bu No 04634, it remains a
piece of naval aviation history to be shared. In an attempt to do so I will
transport it by trailer to Oshkosh this July. Please stop by the Warbird
area and allow me to personally thank those of you who were supporting us.

Thank you and God Bless you all!
