Sorry to announce that Avis Hearn has died.
She was awarded the Military medal during the Battle of Britain after the Radar station she was working in was attacked by dive bombers. Despite the danger she refused to leave her station. This scene was replicated in the film 'The Battle of Britain'.
She was a modest and remarkable lady.
