Re: Ltn. Hans prager 9./JG54
Ltn. Prager's victim was 2ndLt. Charles McKelvey, 359th FS/356th FG, P-47D 42-76206. Herr Urbanke's "Green Heart's-First in Combat with the Dora 9" lists the crash site as 500m south of Achmer airfield.
According to Kent Miller's unit history of the 356th, 2ndLt. McKelvey's aircraft had been previously damaged by an ME262 in an action where another member of his flight, Lt. William L. Hoffert was shot down. No mention is made of damage sustained by another attack, only that McKelvey was pursued by "ME109s" and was forced to belly in since he couldn't escape in his damaged aircraft.
