Re: Kapitan Ivanov, KIA 2.3.44

I have the initial information from Buchner Memoirs, concerning the dogfight and the data on his victim. As they have all this data about the victim (his look, name, planetype etc) I think the claim is 100% true. That Kapitan Ivanov had already 350 flights, so he should have been "someone"...

Additionally, I know from the (very good!) "Dragons..."-book on 812.IAP that on exactly that day, the whole 265.IAD attacked a german AF which they called "Rayzendorf", which is ca. here: N45°33'37", E34°17'17" and which is in the area where II./SG2 was based. But 812.IAP did not claim any Fw destroyed on the ground, neither file any losses. So maybe even the whole 3.IAK attacked crimean Luftwaffe airfields on that day? Some other unit must have lost that Kapitan Ivanov...

BTW: 812.IAP claimed Ju87s destroyed on the ground (potentially from III./SG3) as well as others, but no Fw190. Maybe there were several AFs in the area of "Karankut", which is near to the '44 northern front of the Crimea? Also mentioned by 812.IAP are two kills of 109's during take-off, while II./JG52 filed a "take-off accident" with two Messerschmitts lost and one pilot killed (but filed on antother AF).
