Do 217 6 March 1944

On March 6, 1944, my Father Lt. Cecil Manning was flying Greenbelt 3, 335 fighter squadron, 4th fighter group on a mission to Berlin. In a report given by him on June 5, 1945 after returning from POW camp, he gave an account of downing two Do 217's. According to him, there were several twin engine fighters firing rockets at the bombers with 109's as top cover. Some of these twin engine fighters were Me 110's and some were Do 217's. He claimed two Do 217's destroyed. I need help in determining the validity of this report. Did the Luftwaffe use Do 217's to fire rockets at bomber formations or could he have confused them with Me 110's, 210's and or 410's. This fight took place 10 miles southeast of Brandenburg at approx. 1230 hrs. If anyone has any information on this, I surely would appreciate it.
