Hello everyone!
I have a hard time believing that the French Gendarmerie in 44 would classify a He-177 as a four engines bomber...You would have to be mightily knowledgeable about aircraft and especially German aircraft to know about the peculiarities of the He-177!
It would be more logical to me to look for a stray Condor attacked at sea offshore Morbihan and trying to reach Rennes (why not Vannes or St Nazaire which were a lot closer?) and too hopelessly damaged to succeed? Le Gacilly, St Séglin and Rennes are on the shortest straight line from the coast to Rennes in this order...
