Strange war time photo (at least to me)

Said to have been taken at Castel Benito outside Tripoli and showing capt CR 42.
I am lousy in ID aeroplanes when just showing parts, but did really CB look like this with such lush vegetation? Is it really CR 42 we are looking at and why would the Italians dismantle them? Also the date is suspicious. Surely by May 1943 (even April if we look at it as an American date...) the Allies had bypassed Tripoli by miles and were on the brink of capturing all of Tunisia and throw the Axis out of Africa all together so why this late publishing date??
