But all evidence points to them being derelict aircraft, stripped and left by the side of the road. Look at the scrap in front of the wings and the fallen tree branches, perhaps from shell fire. Not a place one leaves good aircraft.
The markings indicate 1940, yet the picture is dated 1943. The X marking was not used after early 1941.
By July of 1941 the unit was already back in Italy.
Those G 50 were out of commission sometime during the first months of 1941.
Perhaps allied units lined them up to be taken away for scrap.
