Question P-38 Collision late 1943

Hi,

From Losses of the 8th &9th AF's.

P-38, or rather an F-5B-1-LO serial 42-67318 had a collision with a HP Halifax.

This is said to have been a non battle damage accident at Speke in December 1943.

Although the report suggests a mid air collision it is thought that it was a ground collision.

Interestingly , in the photo of the P-38 it has damage to theright wing and prop but there embedded in the left side of the a/c left wing/engine pod is the Fin/Rudder of a HP Halifax.

This is the Rectangular Fin/Rudder not the early type.

As this Tail development came into being in the late 1943 just how manny Halifax a/c were fitted with this development in 1943, and how many were involved in either ground or air collisions in December of that year that had this type of Fin/Rudder assemby ?????

Seeking details of the Halifax involved.

Anyone ???

Thanks

Alex
