Anyone heard more about this....?

I was recently told that there is a documentary in which some USAAF fighter veterans related their wartime experience.

The interesting thing about this particular documentary was that the pilots said they had standing orders to first warn (over radio) and then shoot down any friendly bombers (and fighters) that were seen to head in the direction of neutral countries without noticable damage. Clearly these orders were directed against would-be defectors and the veterans reportedly said that some were in fact shot down in this manner. Naturally, the documentary never aired in the US, but it was featured in Canada.

The question is, does anyone know what documentary this was? Furthermore, are any such incidents known spcifically, i.e. are details about involved aircraft, the date, mission flown, etc. known?

Best regards,
