Re: Losses Do 217 E4

Hello,

I'd be surprised if these two were aircraft from KG 100. II./KG 100, which had operated the Do 217 E-5 (with a few Do 217 E-4s) had already begun transitioning to the He 177 by that time. The surviving Do 217 E-4 and E-5 aircraft of Staffel 6./KG 100 had been transitioned to III./KG 100 by that time, with 6./KG 100 and 8./KG 100 (also transitioning to the He 177) switching designations. III./KG 100 was equipped primarily with Do 217 K-3 and Do 217 M-11 aircraft. Its order-of-battle information indicates only one E-4 variant on roster at the start of June 1944 and it survived that month.

So it seems doubtful this aircraft was from II./KG 100 or III./KG 100. I can't speak to different Staffeln in KG 100.
