Thanks for your replies.
As far as I know it was to be an RAF Nightfighter Sqn as it was to be supported by RAF personnel. I think the US army involvement was purely to build the airstrip as they had bulldozers & plant that was small enough to be carried in gliders.
Still I will check out both units.
