Re: Air Cdr Peter Brothers
Andy,
Thanks for the news about Air Cdr. Brothers.
In 1990, I flew to England to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. My girlfreind at the time (who is now my wife of sixteen years) and I got up at 0400 in the morning and went into downtown London to get our seats in front of Buckingham Palace to see the Royal Family review and the 50th Anniversary BoB flypast.
It was a wonderful ceremony on a beautiful day. After the ceremony was over, a very nice London policeman let me go under the rope to dash across the roundabout in front of the Palace to mingle with the Battle of Britain vets as they boarded their bus. One of the lads I met was Pete Brothers. He was fantastic!!
I saw him on two other occasions at Duxford events and he was always delightful. I wish I could have had the opportunity to meet him on a more personal level. Their were a couple of opportunities, but for one reason or another, they never panned out.
I have two very special original aircraft profile paintings that were signed by A/C Brothers a couple of years ago, all facilitated by David Williams.
They will be cherished just a little more with his passing.
Cheers A/C Brothers and rest in peace.
