Willard G. Nagelstadt 362nd FG Feb. 14th, 1945

Good evening experts !

On February 14th, 1945 a P-47 AAF-s/n 44-19931, assigned to 362nd FG, 377th FS came down at about 16:45 hrs in the town limits of Scharfbillig, about 4 km SSE due to Bitburg, Germany.

The pilot was 1st Lt Willard G Nagelstadt of Chicago. He was killed in the incident, since he was trying to bail out in the last seconds of decending. He was found some minutes after the impact by my father, but he always resumed, that the impact cost his live.

After this event, Lt. Nagelstadt's body was buried in the Scharfbillig local cemetary, while his dog-tag was hanging around his marker-cross.

Does anyone has a photo of 1st Lt. Willard G. Nagelstadt and did his a/c had a Nickname ?. If so, info's would be appreciated and a photo as well.

Thank you !
