Dear all,
For the upcoming book about Dutch airfields during World War II (autumn this year) there are still some questions which need to be answered to finish the manuscript. They are about the Luftwaffe Met Organisation. As some of you may know the Met Org. of the LW was divided in two parts: the Fuhrungswetterdienst and the Bodenwetterdienst. Regarding the Fuhrungswetterdienst I'd like to know:
+ Who leaded this organisation/what was his job?
+ What was the task of the Fuhrungswetterdienst?
+ Is it correct that each Luftflotte comprised a Fuhrungswetterdienst?
+ To the Fuhrungswetterdienst belonged also the Wettererkundungsstaffeln (Wekusta's). Is it right that Wekusta 26 was also active from the airfield of Amseterdam-Schiphol in 1940-1941?
About the Bodenwetterdienst I'm still looking for the answer on the following questions:
+ What was the difference between a Luftwaffen Meteorologe and a Wetterdienst Inspector?
+ Did they also have seperate tasks?
+ What were the general tasks of the so called Wetterwarte (Met stations) on airfields?
+ How did the Wetterwarte get their weather information?
+ What is a Wetterfunkstelle?
I do hope that some of you can help me a little bit. Any recommendation of literature is also most welcome!
