Thanks for the reference descriptions.
Reading through Loss of A/C reports the crew definetly dropped their bomb load at Sterkrade.
I have spoke to the Mike Laffin (pilot) in past numerous times, and he did state once they were hit the a/c made a 180 degree uncontrolled turn (stbd engines on fire, feathered and shut down) and were headed back to Germany. The Ju-88 did make a second attack, but this was when majority of crew had bailed out, only Laffin and my Uncle were left on board.
In all probability it sounds as though Oblt. Schaefer is the pilot responsible.
Any idea how far Oblt. Eric Lippert's claim was from Schaefer's location?
