Re: " Italian weather report "

Dear Michele,

again sorry for being late with my response to your second querie regarding the loss of a Bf 109 G on May 29th, 1944, at 12.55 hrs near Reggio. The most likely candidate I can offer is this:

Bf 109 G-6, WerkNr. 20 356, "yellow 10", of 3./NAG 11, which was lost while on a transfer flight from Littorio to Viterbo, the pilot, Staffelkapitän Hptm. Paul Menzel being temporarily missing, but eventually returning unhurt.

The losses of I. and II./JG 77 on this day occured at different times and different places, while I know of no other Bf 109 loss over Northern Italy on this date.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Jochen Prien
