Re: 56th FG losse infos. / Lt Patton / 5 February 1944

Good evening canonne !

It seems, that Mayer is your man. MACR # 2151 indicates, that 1st Lt. John A. Patton, 56th FG, 63rd FS was shot down by German fighters at about 12:47 hrs (last sighted) in hid P-47, USAAF s/n 42-75063 over France in the vincinity of Forges.

Obstlt. (which exact rank ?? Oberleutnant or Oberstleutnant) Egon Mayer claims a P-47 at about 12:49hrs near "Arguen: S. Forges"

Both times are matching up with A.V.-report # 1126/44, which states, that there was at 12:55hrs a THUNDERBOLT incident at "Morval, 11 km northwest of Gournay en Bray". But pay attention: Under the circumstances of A.V.-reports, this location could be the burial-location of the pilot, but not the precise crash-location.

The other THUNDERBOLT incident this day was at 11:50hrs, no location given, but filed under # J504.

Hope this helps.

All the best !
