is from JG 5. If indeed it is from the Far North it is from 1.(F)/124 which had a few G-4/R-3s (but never enough, I have reports where they ask for replacement aircraft and it did take a long time before they got them - can't see them being "wasted" as fighters!).

Could it be from 1.(F)/AGr 120? They had three Bf 109 G-4/R3 from May 1943 (
http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/aufkl/b1ag120.html ). AFAIK they got codes from the end of alphabet: A6+X,Y,Z H. Or perhaps also W was used - A6+WH???? Which would make the "W" seen under the wingtip on the photo a tactical code instead of Stkz?
