I am looking to identify which Luftwaffe units were tasked with providing air cover for the Bismarck as it entered the North Sea in May 1941.

I believe elements of JG 77 were involved, possibly I./JG 77.

Could someone verify or dispute this for me. I would very much like the details of those JG 77 units and where they were based. At this time I believe they were on bases in Norway and at Petsamo in Finland, flying Me 109 E's. Is this also correct. What were their markings?
