Well, Stemans's series is more of photos and less concentrated on the text size but if I'm making scientific text on scientific magazine (
Historiallinen Aikakauskirja for example) or for a book I would not use Stenman's text for reference since I can not verify the information.
I haven't read the Putnam series so I can not say anything of it.
