Hans Buchwald is wearing the Iron Cross second class in one of the pictures. Only the ribbon would be worn on the uniform after being awarded. The Army officer "Lommelsen" is wearing the Knights Cross, German Cross in Gold and the Iron Cross First class with the badge indicating he received the Iron Cross First class in World War I.
