Re: Aufkl.Gr. 1. (F) 121

Byron -

1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121

Sonstige Staffelkapitäne:
Hptm. Erwin Fischer (1 April 1942 - 25 February 1943) (with the Staffel since 1939)
Oblt. Friedrich Ruthers (acting) (May 1942 - May 1942) (with the Staffel since at least 1941)
Hptm. Waldemar Lutsch (March 1943 - 4 September 1943) MIA (with the Staffel since 1943)

BETASCH and OSBAR are unknown to me. Are you sure their names are spelled correctly?

MUFF, Eberhard. c.04.43 Oblt., appt Staka 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123. 01.08.43 in 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 123, promo to Hptm.

No evidence so far of MUFF being associated with 1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121.

Regarding a data base: Doug Stankey and I have a data base of nearly 30,000 Luftwaffe officers with all that is currently known of their careers. We have all of the Staffelkapitäne, at least as far as we have been able to discover them. Chevron/Ian Allan will probably publish our book on Aufklärungsverbände in 2011. We have two volumes on Sturzkampf- und Schlachtverbände that will appear toward the end of this year and the beginning of next year. Even though you are only interested in the Luftwaffe insofar as it directly pertains to Greece, Crete and the Aegean, you might find out books a worthwhile resource.
