CENTURION is on a distinguished road
Re: Ju87 Italians on 14.sept. 1941

Hello Remi,

according to my source ("Il walzer del 102° Gruppo"), 13 JU 87 of 209 squadriglia took off at 6:30 from Gars El Arid for that unlucky mission.
The target of the mission was a tank unit in the area of Bir Habata, 57 km SE of Sollum.

The JU 87 of S.Ten. Ragonese and Av.Sc. Borghi came back early for engine failure.

Of the remaining bombers, only the JU 87 of the leader (Cap. Romanese and Av.Sc. Boerci) returned to base at 8:35. The other JU 87s force landed in the desert out of fuel. The crew members were:

M.llo Giunta and I Av. Falasco
Ten. Crivellini and Av.Sc. Longo - MM 5797
Cap. Zanazzo and Av.Fot. Mazzucchella
Serg.Magg. Brambilla and I Av. Rubini
Ten. Domizioli and I Av. Carpanese - MM 5801
Serg.Pil. Bartolomasi and Av.Sc. Penzo - MM 5763
Ten. Quarantelli and I Av. Tacconi
Serg.Pil. Ponti and Av.Sc. Genghini - MM 5794
Serg.Pil. Cainero and I Av. Pozzi
Serg.Pil. Pivetti and I Av. Calore
S.Ten. Palamidessi and I Av. Rossano

All pow except Cap. Zanazzo, Ten. Quarentelli, Av.Sc. Penzo and I Av. Pozzi.

Best regards

Marco
