Re: Capt. Rubtsov 10 IAP?
According to Klimenko's account of the event the mission was to cover ground troops and Rubtsov unexpectedly started to strafe German ground troops. After that Klimenko and Rubtsov were bounced by Bf 109s and both were hit. Klimenko saw Rubtsov to go down in flames in the height too low to bail out so that would indicate that Rubtsov was killed. Klimenko crash landed near village Babynino (50 km NE from Rzhev). No first name of Rubtsov in the account. As for the date, the incident must have taken place in September or October since 10 IAP was withdrawn from the combat for rest and refit on 21.10.1941. Sorry not to be able to give closer info.
