Re: Pe-2
the correct Soviet designation is simply 'Pe-2' , not Pe-2FT.
the tactical (or bort) number 1 is common for Regimental Commanders ,but is not always so.
I could find only minimal info on the 205 BAP.
from 'Petlyakov Pe-2 'Peshka' by Peter C. Smith
Crowood aviation series ISBN 1-86126-588-2 page 178 states:
part of 41 BAD from June 41 and equipped with the Tupolev SB
stationed on the Volga November 41 to April 42,on the Karelian front in May 42.
part of 2 RAB June/July 42, part of 13 VA in May 43,part of 285 BAD
became the 128 GBAP in October 43
page 187 list the commanders of 41 BAD as Col. I. Ya. Novikov -SOW
and V.N. Zhdanov.
at military.lib.ru I found a brief mention of the 128 GBAP and the following is translated by Babelfish:
sufficiently intensive was the attack 45 P -2 of 1 [gv]. tank to the airfield of enemy in [Libave] (Liyepaya). On October 22, 1944. to the fulfillment of assignments departed 18 crews of 128 [GBAP], 9 crews of 127 [Gv]. [BAP] under the command of guards of Lieutenant Colonel [Dubinkin] and 18 crews of 35 [Gv]. [BAP] headed by of guards major [Sven's]. Them they covered 64 fighters of 11 [IAK]. After leaving to the purpose, pilots bombed flight lines, hangars, center of landing area. The Earth was covered with many explosions. The clouds of black smoke rose to the sky. Escort fighters, after ascertaining that in air there is no enemy, began to also deliver impacts on the airfield. They, diving, fired from the guns and the machine guns aircraft on the stands, airport technology and the scattering themselves soldiers.
Bombers and fighters, after carrying out combat mission, returned to their airfields. Pilot, undertaken into the captivity on the broken airfield, showed that at the moment of attack on the landing area were located near [149] 100 fighters. They recently returned from the task, they taxied to the stands and did not have time to be filled. As a result unexpected for the enemy attack of 10 aircraft burnt-out and to 50 machines it was damaged. Not one enemy fighter into air rose.
