I./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Wrecked in crash-landing at Esch, cause not stated. Pilot unhurt. Aircraft 100% write-off.
1./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1. Shot down in combat with No. 1 Squadron Hurricanes and crashed at ‘Fond de Givonne’, between Sedan and Bouillon, 3.45 p.m. FF Oberfw Walter Grimmling killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.
1./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4. Collided with No.139 Squadron Blenheim destroyed in combat over Remilly-Aillicourt, south-east of Sedan, and crashed at ‘La Gravičre’, near Doux, 3.40 p.m. FF Fw Alfred Stark killed. Aircraft White 3 + 100% write-off.
1./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Damaged in combat with No. 1 Squadron Hurricanes over Sedan 3.45 p.m. and belly-landed near Esch out of fuel. FF Uffz Herbert Tzschoppe unhurt – returned later. Aircraft 100% write-off.
1./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1. Damaged in combat with No. 1 Squadron Hurricanes over Sedan 3.45 p.m. and forced-landed at Niederbreibach out of fuel. FF Uffz Josef Grothen unhurt. Aircraft 15% damaged - repairable.
3./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Shot down in combat over Sedan and abandoned south of Bouillon 6.40 p.m. FF Lt Wolfgang Tonne baled out wounded. Aircraft 100% write-off.
8./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1. Shot down in combat with No. 1 Squadron Hurricanes west of Buzancy and believed crashed at Chagny 3.35 p.m. FF Fw Josef Kröschel captured unhurt – later released. Aircraft 100% write-off.
